We’ve talked a lot about using video marketing with YouTube, but what about video marketing with Facebook? If you’re launching a marketing campaign that involves a video, you should strongly consider using Facebook in addition to YouTube. YouTube is still by far the largest video sharing website, so ignoring YouTube would be foolish. However, Facebook is the second most popular website in the world, just behind Google, and Facebook users spend inordinate amounts of time on the site. There are a few ways to integrate video into your Facebook presence.
Link to YouTube
Imbedding a YouTube video onto your Facebook page is a simple way to put video on your Facebook page. The advantage of using YouTube is that it is already an established video sharing site and everyone knows how it works.
Facebook will allow you to embed a YouTube video directly onto your Facebook page so that Facebook users can watch the video directly from your Facebook page without having to go to YouTube. Here a random video to show you what it would look like:
If you have a series of videos having them on YouTube can be beneficial. YouTube allows you to create a channel to host of your videos. You can then link people to your YouTube channel where they can find all your videos. Every time you embed a video on Facebook it links back to your YouTube channel.
Upload Directly to Facebook
Facebook has recently enabled you to directly upload videos to Facebook. While you lose the benefits of integrating Facebook with YouTube, there are some clear advantages to uploading directly to Facebook.
Uploading directly to Facebook allows users to “like” your video. If they “like” your video it shows up on their page and to all their friends’ pages. Videos uploaded directly to Facebook seamlessly integrate with the Facebook UI which makes it easy for your customers to share and interact with your video.
When you’re trying to decide whether to link to YouTube or upload directly to Facebook remember that one isn’t necessarily better than the other. They are different and both of different advantages and disadvantages.
